At 9, she attended USA Gymnastics development camps and excelled. Hernandez missed in 2014 due to a dislocated right kneecap and a fractured wrist. She was back in action a year later, competing in four competitions and winning medals as well as an all-around gold. In 2016, she made her senior debut, winning bronze in the all-around at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy.
